2008 CDFI Bank Annual Report

2008 Annual Report on Financial and Social Performance of the CDFI Banking Sector

As part of NCIF’s mission of supporting Community Development Financial Institutions, we are proud to present this report detailing the trends within the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banking industry (for this report, we will use the word bank to refer to both banks and thrifts). The 2008 Annual Financial and Social Performance of the CDFI Banking Sector, highlights and commemorates the growth and community development activity of CDFI banks.

The information contained in the following report outlines the commitment and activity that make CDFI banks attractive targets for socially responsible and mainstream investors that are interested in financial return, social performance and the building of sustainable communities. For further information on CDFI banks and to learn more about NCIF, please feel free to contact us.

The Impact of Community Development Banks

The Impact of Community Development Banks - 2007 and Beyond

This report aims to measure and communicate the impact that Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks and Community Development Banking Institutions (CDBIs) have in the low to moderate income communities that they serve. The National Community Investment Fund (NCIF) has undertaken this research project to communicate to investors and stakeholders the value of CDFI and CDBI banks and the outstanding positive impact that these institutions generate in economically distressed communities.

It is our hope that this continued effort will result in increased visibility and support for CDFI banks throughout the country. The report will focus on the entire CDFI banking sector, with a particular focus on highlighting the impact of the NCIF portfolio institutions.

Home Foreclosure Prevention Financing Models

Working Paper on Home Foreclosure Prevention Financing Models

National Community Investment Fund (NCIF) is pleased to release a Working Paper on Home Foreclosure Prevention Financing Models. As we go through the current financial crisis, a number of us are working hard to provide solutions to help at-risk customers stay in their homes. The objective of our work is to provide summaries of products and strategies that are being provided by financial institutions - banks, thrifts, credit unions, non-depositories, federal agencies and home loan banks. These products access different pots of money in a very creative and innovative manner.

We hope that there will be two possible outcomes of this:
1. Replication: that these products and strategies will be replicated in other locales by other financial institutions so that many more customers will be supported.
2. Product Development: that other products and strategies will be provided to us/the industry on work that is being done. This is not an exhaustive list of products and hence please do send us your comments and additions to this paper.
